Türkiye ratifies the Kigali Amendment

Türkiye ratified the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on 11 March 2021 and has thereby committed to reducing the consumption of HFCs by 80% over the next 30 years. The ratification came into effect on 10 November 2021. Read more.

The Montreal Protocol and its Kigali Amendment

This snapshot explains the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and its Kigali Amendment. It depicts the history and evolution of the agreements, including key past and future milestones in the process of phasing out ozone depleting substances and phasing down hydrofluorocarbons. It also indicates where Cool Up partner countries stand on ratification of the Kigali Amendment.

Thematic group meetings of Jordan stakeholders in 2021

In 2021 Cool Up organised and executed its first round of thematic group meetings in Jordan with relevant stakeholders in the policy, technology, market and finance space. The aim of the virtual meetings was to introduce stakeholders to the Cool Up programme, as well as garner insights on the barriers and opportunities around upscaling sustainable cooling in Jordan. International launch of the Cool Up programme

The Cool Up programme officially launched in a virtual event on 6 October 2021. The event introduced the programme to international stakeholders and featured ministerial representatives from Germany and Cool Up’s partner country governments. Knowledge Sharing Session on Montreal Protocol and its Kigali Amendment

In Cool Up’s inaugural Knowledge Sharing session, Öko-Recherche’s Barbara Gschrey presented on the Montreal Protocol and its Kigali Amendment. Barbara’s presentation covered several topics: the history and aims of the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment; institutional setup and bodies; and current discussions in the space. Cool Up presents at 77th Cairo Climate Talks

On 27 2021 July the Cool Up team presented in “The Heat is On: Climate Change and Heat Confirmation,” a webinar that was part of the Cairo Climate Talks (CCT).
