Joint webinar with the Global Cool Cities Alliance

Cool Up and the Global Cool Cities Alliance hosted a webinar entitled “Sustainable Cooling at the Urban and Building Levels: Cooling Buildings from the Outside In.” In this webinar, the Cool Up programme and Global Cool Cities Alliance (GCCA) discussed how cool surfaces at the urban level can work together with other sustainable cooling measures at the building level to achieve climate-friendly cooling. We looked at solutions that can be scaled up in the MENA region and across the globe.

Policy and regulation thematic group meeting of Lebanon

This thematic group meeting brought together relevant stakeholders and decision makers in the policy and regulatory space in Lebanon. Topics of discussion included programme updates, exchange of experiences, as well as discussion of policy recommendations and measures to achieve sustainable cooling. Participants included NOUs other concerned ministries (e.g. Ministry of Industry and Technology), competent authorities (e.g. for labelling and standardisation), municipalities/local authorities, and customs authorities, among others.

Industry and finance thematic group meeting of Lebanon

This thematic group meeting brought together relevant stakeholders and decision makers in the industry and finance space in Lebanon. The meeting aimed to capture the perspective of the industry and finance sectors and identify their needs, risks, challenges and best practices for the deployment of sustainable cooling technology investments in the financial services industry. Participants included manufacturers of cooling products and equipment an RAC sector associations, service technicians, installers, distributors, project developers, architects and engineers and representatives from financial institutions, among others.

Thematic group meetings of Lebanon stakeholders in March 2022

On the 17 March, Cool Up organised the first thematic group meetings in Lebanon with relevant stakeholders in the policy, technology, market and finance space. These meetings aimed to introduce the Cool Up project to the relevant stakeholders and capture their insights on the existing barriers and opportunities for upscaling sustainable cooling in Lebanon.
