Thematic group meeting in Türkiye: Launch of NCAP by Climate Change Directorate
On 7 June 2023 the Vice President of the Turkish Climate Change Directorate, Dr. Abdulkadir Bektaş, announced the launch of the first National Cooling Action Plan (NCAP) in Türkiye at a thematic group meeting of the Cool Up programme attended by key national stakeholders from policy, industry, and academia in Ankara.
The NCAP is an important step towards sustainable cooling and a contribution to climate neutrality for Türkiye. The Directorate of Climate Change of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change leads the NCAP development supported by the Cool Up programme.
Thematic Group Meetings are organized by the Cool Up programme as national workshops to share project results with stakeholders from different sectors and provide opportunities for cross-learning and knowledge sharing. This Thematic Group Meeting organized by the Cool Up programme as an in-person workshop in Ankara on 7 July 2023 brought together key stakeholders and decision-makers of the Turkish policy, industry, and finance sector to kick off the National Cooling Action Plan (NCAP) for Türkiye. The National Cooling Action Plan works as a roadmap to holistically support the transition towards sustainable cooling practices and promoting the use of future proof and environment-friendly refrigerants. The NCAP supports compliance with international agreements such as the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol and the Paris Agreement.
