10-21 November 2025, Belém, Brasil
UNFCCC COP30 Brasil Amazônia
The 30th session of the Conference of Parties (COP 30) is the world’s only multilateral decision-making forum on climate change, and took place in Belém, Brasil in November. Thousands of delegates from the member states (or Parties) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) got together to review the contributions of the Parties, actions towards the goals of Paris Agreement and detailing how they are tackling climate change.
Cool Up’s active participation in the annual COP is a cornerstone of our programme’s impact and visibility. By engaging in high-level dialogues, sharing our expertise, and presenting real-world solutions on the global stage, we amplify the importance of sustainable cooling and building decarbonisation. COP provides a unique platform for Cool Up to:
- Showcase our demonstration projects and policy innovations to an international audience.
- Forge new partnerships and strengthen collaboration with governments, industry leaders, and financial institutions.
- Influence global and regional climate agendas, ensuring that equitable access to sustainable cooling remains a priority.
- Accelerate knowledge sharing and the scaling of successful solutions across the MENA region, Türkiye, and beyond.
Our presence at COP reinforces Cool Up’s commitment to driving climate action, supporting just transitions, and delivering tangible benefits for people and the planet. Read about the events we participated in below.
The presentation of Cool Up’s demonstration projects showcased how the programme is supporting awareness around de-risking investments and scaling up sustainable cooling and building decarbonisation. These projects, embedded in national frameworks, validate new technologies, inform regulatory reform, and catalyse private sector engagement. The approach includes financial incentives, capacity building for financial institutions, and structured stakeholder engagement to ensure replicability and shared ownership. The next steps involve scaling up demonstration projects, launching awareness campaigns, and developing tailored financial mechanisms to unlock climate finance for buildings.

Our Programme Director, Katja Eisbrenner, highlighted sustainable cooling as a critical solution to extreme heat. The session emphasised the urgency of shifting from reactive adaptation to proactive resilience by connecting sectors, finance, and data.
Key insights included the need for a mix of high-tech and low-cost solutions—such as green roofs, tree coverage, and white-painted roofs—to build heat resilience. The discussion also underscored the importance of blending public and private financial support, with innovative financing and insurance mechanisms to protect vulnerable workers.
