About the meeting

On 14 February 2023, the Cool Up programme held its second Advisory Committee meeting in Jordan. The meeting was organized by the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) and Guidehouse on behalf of the Cool Up programme. The meeting provided the committee with an overview of the recent accomplishments and collected stakeholder insights and feedback to be applied to the next steps in the programme.

The Coordination Committee included stakeholders from the policy, industry, and finance sectors. Representatives from the public sector, including Heba Zrygat (Ministry of Environment) and Dia Khatatneh (Ministry of Industry and Trade) along with other stakeholders from Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Public Works, Jordan Customs Department, Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization and Jordan Chamber of Industry were in attendance.

Industry and finance stakeholders were represented by Firas Abdin (Vice President, Abdin Industrial), Nour Abdin (Business Development Manager, Abdin Industrial), Eman Maaitah (Administrative Coordinator, Mohammed Tahseen Al Baalbaki & Partners Co), Mohammad Okour (Environmental Engineer, Petra Engineering Industries Co), and Elia Fouad Saba (General Manager, Elia Fouad Saba Trading Establishment).

During the meeting ongoing coordination efforts were discussed as well as priorities for the upcoming year at the national level. The committee showed great interest and provided valuable feedback. The Cool Up programme was recognized as an important project in furthering sustainable cooling in Jordan.
