On 16 July 2025, the Cool Up programme and Akbank celebrated the launch of their new partnership, following the successful signing of a cooperation agreement between Akbank and consortium member Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. This collaboration marks a major milestone for Cool Up — its first formal engagement with a financial institution in Türkiye — and represents a significant step toward scaling up access to finance for sustainable cooling technologies.

Under this partnership, Cool Up and Akbank will work together to:

  • Identify climate-aligned investment opportunities within Akbank’s client portfolio.
  • Build internal capacity to enable the financing of energy-efficient and climate-friendly cooling systems.
  • Engage with clients to raise awareness and encourage the uptake of sustainable cooling solutions.
  • Align efforts with other Cool Up activities in Türkiye to ensure integrated impact across policy, technology, and finance.

This collaboration reflects Cool Up’s commitment to empowering financial institutions as key actors in the cooling transition. Through tailored financial instruments and capacity-building efforts, the programme aims to unlock market transformation in Türkiye and support the country’s broader climate and energy efficiency goals.
