The training brought together over 30 participants from 16 agri-food companies, engineering firms, and sustainable solution providers, including Tayyebat, Tanmia, IMFunding, Cortas Canning and Refrigeration, Debbane Freres SAL, Grabit/Cherry Good, Cibus Laboratoire, Surrender, Judi Lebanon, Natura Spoon, Whitelogs SARL, Tekmek Engineering Solutions, Biomass, LiveBio, and Tekmak Group.

Participants engaged in a comprehensive programme that covered:

  • Environmental impact and sustainability assessment of refrigeration systems
  • Storage requirements and best practices for fruits and vegetables, including pre-cooling and estimation of cooling times
  • Cold storage design, operation, and maintenance, including insulation and air-conditioning systems
  • Strategies for integrating energy efficiency and renewable energy into cold storage systems

The event provided valuable insights into innovative technologies and energy-efficient practices to improve cold storage performance. The programme also emphasised the importance of passive and active cooling, the role of energy efficiency in the food chain, and practical options for integrating renewable energy sources into agri-food operations.

The session concluded with a Q&A and participant feedback, which reflected the positive reception of the training. This initiative supports Lebanon’s transition to sustainable cooling technologies and strengthens the environmental performance of the agri-food sector.
