Technician training in Egypt
Cool Up’s country partner in Egypt, the Integrated Development Group (IDG), organized in collaboration with the Ministries of Environment and Technical Education of Egypt, three technical trainings on sustainable cooling in the Nasr City Training Center Cairo. Cool Up’s training was carried out to a total of 45 refrigeration and air conditioning technicians from private service centers and companies like Al-Sharqawi Tech, Zanussi, Kattameya LG, Active Air, and Gulf Nassiri. The trainings focused on the optimal use of environmentally friendly alternative refrigerants.
The training courses were held from 17-22 February 2024, with each training session lasting two consecutive days. The training covered a simplified explanation of hydrocarbon (flammable) refrigerants, including carbon dioxide and ammonia, and natural alternatives that do not contribute to the depletion of the ozone layer and help reduce global warming effects. In addition to the theoretical part, the training included a practical part where participants learned how to safely handle flammable refrigerants, techniques for retrieving refrigerants, applying lokring operations to devices that use flammable refrigerants, and using a refrigerant analysis device to identify adulterated cylinders and analyze types of refrigerants.
During the trainings technicians discussed how to manage natural refrigerants used in small-capacity domestic and commercial units. Additionally, the importance of technicians’ role in preserving the environment and reducing wasted energy by using refrigeration equipment that operates with other refrigerant media was emphasized. The discussions aimed to create awareness among technicians about these important issues.
