Cool Up Regional Conference

The Cool Up programme held its inaugural regional conference, ‘Realising Opportunities for Sustainable Cooling,’ between 28-29 September 2022 in Istanbul, Türkiye. The conference provided an opportunity to bring together actors and stakeholders from the technical, policy, and finance communities across the Cool Up partner countries Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Türkiye for a regional exchange on the uptake of sustainable cooling and natural refrigerants.

MENA Europe Future Energy Dialogue (MEFED)

Cool Up attended the MENA Europe Future Energy Dialogue (MEFED), 8-9 June in Jordan. MEFED aims at deepening the energy cooperation between the MENA region and Europe and is a leading forum for key stakeholders of the energy sector in both regions. The conference gave representatives across governments, industry, academia, and civil society the opportunity to share their experiences and ideas on a reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy system.

Launch of the first MENA Region Cooling Status Report

The Cool Up programme launched its first MENA Region Cooling Status Report in a one-hour webinar on 18 May 2022. Cool Up’s MENA Region Cooling Status Report is the first of its kind to provide an overview of the state of sustainable cooling in the region. The report closes knowledge gaps by addressing progress, opportunities, and insights on the topic from the perspectives of policy, technology, markets, and finance.

Thematic group meetings of Türkiye stakeholders in April 2022

On 26 and 27 April, Cool Up organised the second round of thematic group meetings in Türkiye with relevant stakeholders in the policy, technology, market, and finance spaces. The objectives of the online meetings were to collect feedback on proposed policy recommendations as well as share the experiences, challenges, and needs of stakeholders in realising the phase down of HFCs and transitioning to sustainable cooling technologies.
