Cooling Sector Status Report Egypt

Egypt has one of the highest electricity consumption growth rates in the world. Cooling is a substantial part of the country’s electricity demand and is expected to grow as average temperatures continue to rise. There is limited data and market studies on the current state of the cooling sector in Egypt. The Cooling Sector Status Report aims to rectify this on residential and non-residential air conditioning and commercial refrigeration. The report provides an overview of the cooling sector in Egypt by laying the foundation for understanding upscaling sustainable cooling technologies potential in the country and the use of natural refrigerants as an alternative to harmful synthetic refrigerants.

Q&A - Sustainable Commercial Refrigeration: A Cool Approach to Keeping Food Fresh

As a part of the 2022 celebration of World Refrigeration Day, Cool Up hosted a webinar focused on the benefits of using natural refrigerants for commercial refrigeration. The webinar's guest speakers included, Mr. Olaf Schulze from Metro and Mr. Firas Abdin from Abdin Industrial both answered several audience questions related to sustainable commercial refrigeration in Europe and the MENA region. Audience members sent in several questions to the speakers who drew on their previously presented case studies and decades of experience to provide thorough and thought-provoking answers for future commercial refrigeration development across the industry.

The aim of this report is to look beyond the four Cool Up partner countries to show valuable insights and developments in sustainable cooling with a high-level perspective and broad geographic scope across the whole region. MENA Europe Future Energy Dialogue (MEFED)

Cool Up attended the MENA Europe Future Energy Dialogue (MEFED), 8-9 June in Jordan. MEFED aims at deepening the energy cooperation between the MENA region and Europe and is a leading forum for key stakeholders of the energy sector in both regions. The conference gave representatives across governments, industry, academia, and civil society the opportunity to share their experiences and ideas on a reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy system.
