Finance Market Assessment Lebanon

Overall, Lebanon has a well-established financial infrastructure with 47 commercial banks and a large branch network. The Lebanese banking sector has increasingly recognised the importance of green financing towards climate change. Banks are keen to develop and introduce new financing products for financing sustainable cooling solutions in Lebanon and have previous experience in financing renewable energy and energy efficiency improvement projects.

Cool Up Regional Conference

The Cool Up programme held its inaugural regional conference, ‘Realising Opportunities for Sustainable Cooling,’ between 28-29 September 2022 in Istanbul, Türkiye. The conference provided an opportunity to bring together actors and stakeholders from the technical, policy, and finance communities across the Cool Up partner countries Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Türkiye for a regional exchange on the uptake of sustainable cooling and natural refrigerants.

Regulatory Analysis Egypt

Egypt has progressed on the commitments relevant to the Montreal Protocol through the implementation of several relevant programs, laws, and other policy instruments. Different policy instruments governing the refrigeration and air conditioning sector in Egypt were analysed. The Regulatory Analysis of the Cool Up programme outlines this important progress as well as opportunities that can guide the transition towards sustainable cooling and natural refrigerants use in Egypt.
