Industry and finance thematic group meetings of Türkiye

This thematic group meeting brought together relevant stakeholders and decision makers in the industry and finance space in Türkiye. The meeting aimed to capture the perspective of the industry and finance sectors and identify their needs, risks, challenges and best practices for the deployment of sustainable cooling technology investments in the financial services industry. Participants included manufacturers of cooling products and equipment an RAC sector associations, service technicians, installers, distributors, project developers, architects and engineers and representatives from financial institutions, among others.

Policy and regulation thematic group meetings for Türkiye

This thematic group meeting brought together relevant stakeholders and decision makers in the policy and regulatory space in Türkiye. Topics of discussion included programme updates, exchange of experiences, as well as discussion of policy recommendations and measures to achieve sustainable cooling. Participants included NOUs/Ministries for the Environment and other concerned ministries (e.g. Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Industry and Technology), competent authorities (e.g. for labelling and standardisation), municipalities/local authorities, and customs authorities, among others.

ATMO World Summit 2022

The Cool Up team attended the ATMO World Summit on 30 - 31 March. Cool Up hosted a webinar on 30 March at 13:00 CET entitled "MENA Region in Focus: Insights from the New Cool Up Programme." The World Summit 2022 was a full day online event (24 hours) with on-the-hour webinars starting at 10:00 am March 30th in the Central European time zone, followed by the Americas, and then Asia Pacific. The topic of the summit was The Future of Cooling and Heating in 2022 and had a wide range of stakeholders with a focus on natural refrigerants.

Middle East and North Africa Climate Week 2022

The Cool Up team attended the MENA Climate Week from 28 – 31 March in Dubai. The first-ever Middle East and North Africa Regional Climate Week accelerated collaboration and integrated climate action into global pandemic recovery. The event brought together key stakeholders to take the pulse of climate action in the region, explore climate challenges and opportunities and showcase ambitious solutions. It is hosted by the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

MEETMED Week

With the title "Together Towards Efficient Buildings and Appliances in the Mediterranean", the MeetMED Week took place in Cairo, Egypt and was streamed online. In the context of the MeetMED Week Cool Up's Eslam Mahdy and RCREEE presented on 26 March at 16:30 Cairo time at the event 'Training Course and Study Tour on “District Cooling in the South Mediterranean Countries”' in Cairo. The presentation covered the "Status of Sustainable Cooling in MENA Region: Insights from the Cool Up Programme". On 30 March at 11:20 Cairo time Katja Eisbrenner and Andreas Hermelink (Cool Up) joined a MeetMED Week panel entitled "'Efficient Appliances’ to Facilitate Energy Transition in SEMCs."

Thematic group meetings of Jordan stakeholders in March 2022

On 23 and 24 March, Cool Up held the second round of thematic group meetings in Jordan involving with relevant stakeholders in the policy, industry and finance spaces. The objectives of the online meetings were to collect feedback on proposed policy recommendations as well as share the experiences, challenges, and needs of stakeholders in realising the phase down of HFCs and transitioning to sustainable cooling technologies.
